Los Angeles Angels “two-hit wonder” Shohei Ohtani couldn’t add to the win column. His strong outing was undone by an extra-inning loss.
Ohtani pitched six innings of six-hit, 10-strikeout, three-walk, two-run (one earned) baseball against the Miami Marlins at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, U.S., on Monday (Aug. 28), but was unable to secure the win.
The team lost 5-8 in 10 extra innings. After Ohtani left the mound, Chase Silseth, who pitched the seventh inning, gave up a two-run double to Jorge Soler to end the game. 토토사이트
The Angels tied the game again in the bottom of the eighth on a solo home run by Gio Ursella, but a costly error sent the game to extra innings.
The game started with the bases loaded. Jamie Varia, the team’s fifth pitcher on the mound, walked Yuli Gurriel with one out. He then faced Garrett Cooper.
Barria’s first pitch was a line drive to left field, which left fielder Mikey Moniak tracked well and made a good catch, but Moniak dropped the ball. Second baseman Luis Arajuez crossed home plate.
The balance was off. The momentum shifted to Miami. Baria gave up three more runs. The Angels led until the sixth inning, when Ohtani took over. Silses gave up the game-winning run and then made a costly error in extra innings that ruined Ohtani’s night.
MLB.com wrote, “Ohtani’s strong outing was squandered in a sloppy extra-inning loss. Cishek gave up a two-run homer in the seventh inning, and while Asserra tied the game in the eighth, his defense let him down in the 10th.”
