Tangi Ndombele, 26, who has returned to Tottenham after a loan spell at Napoli, has lowered the expectations of the fans from his ‘arrival scene’.
Tottenham posted a video of some of the players arriving for the first time at Tottenham’s Enfield training center in London, England, on Feb. 2 (ET) via official social media 먹튀검증.
Ndombele is seen getting out of an SUV alongside Uruguayan midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur, who has returned from a long-term injury.
Ndombele, wearing a light blue hoodie cap and sunglasses, carried a bag in his left hand and his phone in his right as he made his way to the training ground with his trademark “shuffling” gait.
It was a far cry from Brian Hill, who waved to the club’s cameras and walked in at a brisk pace.
Fans also took note of Ndombele’s “first appearance,” and according to the UK’s Daily Star, “our hopes of a comeback are gone,” “he looks tired already,” and “even walking is an effort!” among other reactions.
Ndombele joined Tottenham in the summer of 2019 from Olympique Lyonnais for a club-record fee of £55 million. The hefty fee reflected Spurs’ expectations for the player. However, due to frequent injuries, form issues, and friction with then-Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho, ‘Poten’ failed to explode.
Eventually, he was sent on loan to Napoli, Kim Min-jae’s club, last season. He made 30 Serie A appearances last season, helping his team win their first Scudetto in 30 years.
It remains to be seen if new Spurs boss Enzi Postecoglou will utilize Ndombele. Bentancur is back from injury and Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison has joined the club.
