The 36th-ranked Koreans fell 1-3 (22-25 26-24 21-25 9-25) to the seventh-ranked Poles in the second match of Group C of the Paris Olympic Qualification on Monday (Aug. 18) in Łódź, Poland. It was the second straight loss for South Korea, which also lost the first match to Italy in a shutout.
Kang So-hwi (GS Caltex) scored 16 points and Pyo Seung-ju (IBK) added 15 points. Unlike their lethargic performance in the first game, South Korea battled to the end, but couldn’t get past Poland.
They were down 11-18 in the first set, but rallied back to 22-24 to threaten Poland. In the second set, she fell behind by six points but closed the gap to level the score at 21-21. A deuce ended the set to level the match.

South Korea will play Germany in the third round on June 19 at 6:30 pm.
